James Walter Peets Jr.

James Walter Peets, Jr., age 69, was a charismatic and loving person whose journey in this life closed on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at his residence in Albemarle, North Carolina. Born February 17, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York, James was the son of Pauline Dryton and the late James Alston Peets; and the late Margaret Gervin  reared him. His family and friends give thanks to Our Lord and Savior for allowing us to share his life.

He was educated in the public schools of Brooklyn and after high school he enlisted and served in the United States Army. For many years he was employed as a printer with Collins and Aikman Automotive Components. Never idle and quite accomplished, James enjoyed entertaining family and friends, listening to music, training his dogs, watching and playing basketball and playing chess. James’ favorite food was chicken and dumplings; and his favorite phrase was, “Cough syrup & A.B.T.”.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, and Dolores McRae, mother of James and Keesha.

Those who survive and who have fond memories of James are: sons: Jamal Peets, Brooklyn, New York and James Jevon Peets, Georgia; daughters: Keesha S. Peets and Treena (Shannon) Peets Ashley, both of Brooklyn, New York; grandchildren: Tajahnae Peets-Ashley, Jermaine Peets, Alexis Peets, Ethan Peets, Faith Peets, Ramique (Erin) Peets, Jevon Peets and Joseph Kristensen; great-grandchildren: Logan Peets and Mason Peets; brother, William Peets, Brooklyn, New York; sisters: Eloise Gervin, Long Island, New York, Evelyn Gervin, Brooklyn, New York and Eleanor Fowlkes, Crewe, Virginia;  nephews: Saladine Peets and Salahdean Peets; nieces: Sakiyna Peets, Jackson Ragland and Jaya Ragland; god-children: Sharease and Stanley Frazier , Brooklyn, New York; a special friend and mother to Jamal and Treena, Marcella Stevenson; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
