Fannie Mae (Powell) Bennett

August 5, 1933 ~ November 22, 2015 (age 82) 82 Years Old
From the rising of the sun, MRS. FANNIE POWELL BENNETT was born to the late Berth Powell and Marie Davis Powell, began her journey of this life on August 5, 1933 in York, S.C. She was the oldest of 4 children to this union. Fannie received her formal education from the Stanly County School system and was a West Badin High alumnus. She obtained her certification as a Nurse's Assistant from Stanly Community College in 1973. She was employed by and retired from Stanly Manor Nursing Home where she lovingly attended and cared for patients.

Fannie was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1963, where she firmly believed in sharing with others about God's Kingdom and the resurrection hope. She constantly expressed her love for Jehovah God and served faithfully right up until the end of her life.

She enjoyed a full life of spending time with family and friends. Fannie enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling, photography, shopping (also known as the "QVC Queen"), listening to music to included selections from Jazz, Blues, and "Sing to Jehovah" Kingdom Melodies.
She approached others with a beautiful smile, a loving spirit, open arms, and always with laughter.  Fannie was known as "Mama Fannie" and "Sister Bennett" was dearly loved by all and will be truly missed by family and friends.

Fannie was preceded in death by her parents Berth and Marie Powell, and her maternal grandmother Clara B. Moore.

Left in the sunshine of life to cherish her loving and everlasting memories: she is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 64 years, Sylvester Bennett, of the home; eight loving children, Thomasina B. Watkins(Bernard) of Norwood, North Carolina, Sylvester R. Bennett, Albemarle, North Carolina, Marietta Bennett ,Charlotte, North Carolina,  Donna B. Carrothers (Christopher), Albemarle, North Carolina,  Oliver B. Bennett (Theresa),Cumberland, Georgia, Zina B. Collins (Joe),Charlotte, North Carolina; Stanley B. Bennett(Corinna), Tacoma, Washington and Tiffany "Zaru" Bey (Karim), Charlotte, North Carolina; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; great- great- grandchildren;  sisters and brothers: Sarah (Joseph) Sutton, of Badin ,North Carolina , Joe (Rose) Powell, Sr., Charlotte, North Carolina, Cynthia Powell Thomas, Badin, North Carolina, Calving Joe Kirk, Albemarle, North Carolina, Diane Allen, Boston, Massachusetts, Johnnie Mae Jones, Charlotte, North Carolina, Carol Cole, Velvet Cole and Sammy K. Cole, all of Albemarle, North Carolina; a host of in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
