Eve Winnaul Willoughby was born September 11,1957 in Oakboro, Stanly County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Willie and Louvenia “Pat” Kirk Willoughby. She died Thursday, June 2,2016 at her residence. Words cannot begin to express our profound sadness for the loss of our dear mother, grandmother, sister and friend. We give thanks for the years we shared her life.
She received her formal education in the Stanly County public schools and graduated from West Stanly High School, Oakboro, North Carolina. She later attended Stanly Community College and the University of North Carolina, Charlotte where she received degrees in Early Childhood Education. She was employed as a para-professional for the Stanly County Board of Education before her retirement. A dedicated member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Eve served as secretary of the Women’s Ministry, assistant to the Children’s Ministry and Sunday School teacher. She also served as coordinator of the Oakboro Summer Youth Program.
In her leisure time Eve enjoyed gardening, fishing, shopping, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Cherished and fond memories are left with her daughter, Tristan and son-in-law, Lawrence Alston, Jr., Oakboro, North Carolina; two grandchildren: Kaylyn Eve Alston and Lawrence “Trey” Alston, III both of Oakboro, North Carolina; three brothers: Stephen (Phyllis) Willoughby, Savannah, Georgia, Neil Willoughby, Salisbury, North Carolina and Jasper Kendall, Albemarle, North Carolina; three sisters: Tyra Willoughby and Erika Willoughby both of Albemarle, North Carolina and Kisha Kendall, Alexandria, Virginia; an aunt, Cora Staton, Oakboro, North Carolina; a host of other relatives and dear friends.
