Willie Mae Tyson Baldwin, age 94, transitioned to Eternal rest, Thursday, January 28, 2021 while a patient at Forrest Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Albemarle, North Carolina. Born July 5, 1926 in Richmond County, North Carolina, Wille Mae was the daughter of the late William and Mary Colston Tyson. Some individuals can take an ordinary day and make it a spectacular day…that was Willie Mae. She was generous, kind and always offered an encouraging word to others. Her loving memories of the past will live with us in spirit until we meet again.
She attended the Richmond County public schools and was employed with McRae Shoe Company, Wadesville, North Carolina, Hinson Hair Salon, Troy, North Carolina, and Federal Pacific Electric Company, Albemarle. Despite her rigorous work schedule, she always found time for reading the Bible, attending church, and caring for her family.
A faithful servant, Willie Mae was a member of Snow Hill African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Mount Gilead, North Carolina. She was a former member of the Usher Board and Senior Choir. Prior to declining health, her hobbies included: cooking, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family.
She was married to Lacy Baldwin Jr. who preceded her in death. She now rests in her Heavenly home with her husband; son, Lacy Baldwin III; parents; Tyson brothers: Henry, James, Charles, Butner, Thomas, Garfield, Paul, Phil, Carl, and Peter; and sisters: Blainey Ledbetter and Beatrice Tyson Steele.
