Walter Franklin Harris, age 70, departed his earthly life Sunday, July 27, 2025, at his residence in Greensboro, North Carolina. Born October 3, 1954, in Troy, North Carolina, Walt was the son of Walter and Bermell Covington Harris. Gone from our home, but not from our hearts, Walt will be lovingly missed.
He received his formal education from the Montgomery County Public Schools and graduated in the class of 1972 from West Montgomery High School, Mt. Gilead. After completing high school, he enlisted in the United States Marines and served honorably in the Vietnam Conflict. Professionally, Walt enjoyed his employment in food service for many years.
Walt will be remembered for his friendly and outgoing personality. He had a great sense of humor, who loved his family and friends. He was quite the ladies’ man. “Pretty Frank”, was his nick name affectionately penned by close friends. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention that Walt’s favorite foods were biscuits and corn flakes. He also loved fast cars.
His parents, Walter and Bermell; and sons: Emanuel McAuley and Carlos Butler preceded him in death.
Walt leaves a legacy of love, laughter and cherished memories that will forever live in the hearts of his daughters: Latessia (Joseph) DeRosa, Carla Little, and Ayana Little; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters: Bishop Clarissa (JM) Young and Teresa H. Rushing; brother, Kenneth W. (Patricia) Harris; special friends: Annie Christian and Earl Christian; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
