Victor Xavier Snuggs Sr

Victor Xavier Snuggs Sr. entered this life on July 29, 1949, to the late Doremus David Snuggs Sr. and Aleane Ponds Snuggs in Albemarle, North Carolina. He peacefully departed this life on February 19, 2022, at Stanly Manor Nursing Home, Albemarle, North Carolina at the age of 72.

Victor was educated in the Stanly County public school system and was a proud graduate of the historic Kingville High School, Class of 1967. Upon graduation, Victor enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he was the recipient of the Navy Achievement Medal by the Secretary of the Navy. After his military service, he remained in Long Beach, California where he was employed with Union Bank until he returned home to Albemarle in 1990. Prior to declining health, he was employed with Waste Management of Albemarle.

Victor received Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was a member of Union Chapel AMEZ Church, Albemarle, North Carolina, where he faithfully served in the Young Adult Choir as organist, and a member of the “Bass Section” in the Senior Choir. He was also a member of the Trustee Board, Christian Education Department, Laymen’s Council, and Life member of the Women’s Home and Overseas Missionaries.

Victor enjoyed gardening, cooking (especially a good BBQ), watching old western movies and detective television shows.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers: Doremus “Tracy” Snuggs Jr. and Patrick K. Snuggs.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Sonja A. Harrell, Durham, North Carolina, Sharon “Niecy” Hooker, Kannapolis, North Carolina and Hannah A. Snuggs, Albemarle, North Carolina; sons: Victor X. Snuggs Jr, Corona, California and Adam D. Snuggs, Wilmington, California; grandchildren: Chatora Jones, Jonisha Jones, Euniiq Harrell, Isaiah  and Ishmail Hooker; great grandchildren: Asiyah Wall, Aniyah Wall, Kylani Fisher, Timothy Bumpass, Kodi Jones and Nehemiah Hooker; sisters: Imogene Snuggs, Gail Swaringen both of Albemarle, and Ivey Cytrena Snuggs, Charlotte, North Carolina; special friend, Mary Wiedman, Albemarle; a host of other family and friends.
