Obituary   

John 3:16 KJV: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Valerie Jean Stovall Leggette was born on January 4, 1951, in Tampa, FL to the late Ida Mae and Kernist Stovall Sr. She departed this life on December 13, 2021, at her Badin home surrounded by family and friends.  

Valerie spent most of her early life in Badin, NC where she received her formal education. She graduated from North Stanly High School in 1969 and went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC, in 1973.  

After college, Valerie traveled extensively and had numerous careers. Immediately after college, she worked in Albemarle, NC as a Social Worker. Afterwards, she moved to Atlanta to take a position at FDAC and also started her own European Brass Business.  She spent the majority of her career in the Insurance Industry working in cities from Atlanta, GA to Silver Spring, MD, finally retiring early from Montgomery Mutual in Sandy Spring, MD, due to illness.  

Valerie lived a very exciting and rewarding life. She loved to travel and never met a stranger. Valerie was always kind, outgoing and fun-loving. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and was used mightily by Him. She spoke of many adventures that the Lord led her on. She had such a loving spirit, which explains why she has so many loving friends. Valerie exemplified this paraphrase of Proverbs 18:24 “To have friends, you must show yourself friendly.” 

Valerie leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Ebony (Jeremy) Greene, son, Dache Green, granddaughters, Janiah Darby and Reanna Staggers, God son Terrell (Jamie) Stafford; sisters, Burnetta Maske and Kaye (Michael) Goodwine; brothers, Kernist  (Carolyn) Stovall Jr. and Michael (Kindylin) Stovall; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
