Tony Eugene Smith

In sweet peace, Tony Eugene Smith, transitioned to his Heavenly home, Thursday, August 19, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Tony was born July 16, 1952, in Stanly County, North Carolina; and was the son of the late Claymon and Lola Broadway Smith. Tony enriched our lives and brightened our days. His loss has left an irreplaceable void in our lives, and he will be missed beyond measure. We give thanks to Our Savior for allowing us to share a wonderful life.

He was educated in the Stanly County public schools where he graduated from West Stanly High School, Red Cross, North Carolina. He received his Associate degree from Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte, North Carolina. Tony was retired after several years of exemplary employment from Preformed Line Products, Albemarle, North Carolina.

A dedicated member of Saint Matthews United Church of God, Oakboro, North Carolina. He was former Chairman of the Deacon Board, Trustee Board member, former superintendent of the Sunday School, former assistant Sunday School teacher and former president of the YPHA (Young People Holiness Association).

In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, and was a loyal fan of the Duke University Blue Devil’s basketball team.

Tony and his wife, Cynthia, were a loving, devoted couple and were proud parents of Tonya and Brian.

His parents, Claymon and Lola; siblings: Annette Harris, Claymon Jr., Mitchell and Donald Ray Smith preceded him in death.

Forever remembered, forever loved, Tony’s memory will remain in the hearts of his wife, Cynthia B. Smith; daughter, Tonya Smith; son, Brian Smith (Melissa); grandchildren: Sidney Smith, Kensley Smith and Olivia Whitley; sister, Bertha Burris; special brother, Eddie Davis (Zelma); and a host of other family and friends.
