Thomas "TreeCat" Wright Obituary

Thomas Eulias “TreeCat” Wright, 67, of 331 Park Rd, Albemarle, NC went to his heavenly home on Friday, August 2nd, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Shelby, NC on February 27, 1952 to the late U.L. and Lucy Wright of Claremont, NC.

Thomas attended the North Carolina Public School System and graduated from Bunker Hill High School in Catawba, NC. He attended Word of Life Bible College in Bennettsville, SC and received Certifications in Bible Survey, English, Basic Writing, and New Testament Studies from 2017 through 2019 after recovering from suffering a stroke in 2016.  He proved to be evidence of a walking miracle. He also recently acquired his Conceal to Carry License in Albemarle, NC in 2019.

Thomas was a driver most of his employment career. He was a driver for CW Transport in Durham, NC, Dixie Trucking in Durham, NC and in Charlotte, NC. T.E. “TreeCat” Wright retired from YRC Worldwide, Inc. Local Union 71 of Charlotte, NC. “TreeCat” was a driver at heart- a real driver. He always defined the difference between a wheel-holder and a driver. He was a “Union Man” and you need not forget it.

Thomas had many moments in his life that he was proud to share with anyone that would listen to him talk about his family---especially his children and grandchildren. One of his proudest accomplishments was being able to say that he retired from YRC Worldwide, Inc. clocking over 5 million safe driving miles.

Thomas was well known in every community he walked through leaving a boisterous trail of love and laughter behind him. His charming and welcoming personality permitted him to be a man that never met a stranger and could have a conversation with anyone from the highest regard to the least of them. He was a giver, a doer, and most of all a servant.

Thomas served as a Man of Valor, Sunday School Teacher, and Youth Minister under the leadership of Dr. Mack Timberlake, Jr. at Christian Faith Center in Creedmoor, NC for approximately 10 years. He later found his home church in Albemarle, NC under the leadership of Pastor Michael Stovall. He served as a Sunday School Teacher, Church Campus Superintendent, Church Van Ministry Driver, Word of Wisdom Giver, and Circle of Prayer Member. He was also on the church security team where he was happy to be protecting God’s house. He was faithful in his commitment to his church and church family. He also assisted in leadership of the 3rd Street Ministry (a ministry outreach program designed to serve and minister to the local senior living community). He was elevated to the position of Deacon on December 31st, 2017 and served in all these offices until his unexpected death.

Thomas was a jack of all trades and a master of almost everything. He will be remembered for his caring and giving heart, his bigger than life laugh, wonderful stories filled with booming sound effects, supervising expertise, and vault of wisdom. He loved everyone that he crossed paths with and always tried to give an encouraging word and a listening ear sometimes resulting in him saying “Pray about it” or “Keep you mouth off people, now.”

Please remember this as a celebration because Thomas E. Wright lived a good life and enjoyed every bit of it and would want you to do so also. We picture him laughing with his Mama & Daddy and giggling with his baby brother in Heaven.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother; Kenneth Wright

Thomas leaves to cherish fond memories: his loving and devoted wife, Jackie Ann Wright, of Albemarle; daughters, Shawayna Jacobs (Charles) of Charlotte, NC, Tonya Schelfhowd (Ro) of Holland, Veda Catoe (Roderick) and Sa’Nedra Lutz of Mount Holly, NC, Rosetta Hudson (Nathaniel) of Fayetteville, NC, and Stashia Robinson of Albemarle; son Brooks Robinson of St Paul, Minnesota; brothers: Roosevelt Wright (Sandra) of Lincolnton, NC,  Anthony Wright (Renee) of Rock Hill, SC; sisters: Connie Roland of Newton, NC, Daisy Bryant (Glenn) of Lincolnton, NC, Ruby Pegram (Charles) of Columbus, OH, Barbara Connor (Henry) of Sherrills Ford, NC, and Princella Wright of Claremont, NC; grandsons: Eckie Johnson, Jr of Belmont, NC, Elijah Hudson of Fayetteville, NC, and Jeremiah Robinson of Albemarle, NC; granddaughters: Montorya and Henri Catoe of Mount Holly, NC, Jahseyn and Ishinta Schelfowd of Holland, and Aniyah and Emori Hudson of Fayetteville, NC.
