On Friday, May 5, 2023, Our Lord and Savior called Saundra D. Reed to eternal rest while a patient at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Albemarle, North Carolina. Saundra, a radiant breath of sunshine, was born April 28, 1950, in Stanly County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Tincie Mae Daniels and Eugene Patton Jr.
Saundra had a smile and laugh that could fill the room. She was famous for her hugs that made you feel safe and loved. Saundra was most famous for her honesty and being true to the person she knew she could be and not for what others expected of her. This was an amazing gift that allowed her to live a life full of adventure and change. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the lives of individuals she met along her life’s journey.
Saundra was educated in the Stanly County public schools and graduated in the class of 1968 from North Stanly High School, New London, North Carolina. She also attended North Carolina Central University, Durham, North Carolina.
While her main employment was with AT&T for many years until her retirement, Saundra never liked to be idle, so she worked successfully to receive her cosmetology certification. She loved doing the hair of her clients and making them feel special.
Saundra was an active member of Parkers Grove Baptist Church, New London, where she enjoyed many spirited church services and the social functions. In her leisure, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, knitting, crocheting, checkers, and beating her opponents at playing spades.
Her beloved husband, Royland L. Reed, whom she adored, preceded her in death.
Saundra leaves cherished memories to her brother, Garland (Cathy) Patton; nephew, Garland (Jazmin)Patton, Jr.; niece, Teal Patton; four Godsons: Reverend Dr. Sedgwick(Kashenna) V. Easley, Randy Kilgore, Felipe Delerme, and Manu Delerme; Goddaughter Amaya Delerme; aunts: Priscilla P. Rogers, and Sadie Ray Lauren; special cousins and caregivers: Clair Watkins, Mary Robinson, and Brady Crump, a host of other relatives and friends.
“Good night, dear Saundra, may flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest.”
