Sarah Clark Obituary

Our matriarch, Sarah Ruth Kendall Clark, entered the Pearly Gates of Our Lord and Savior Saturday, July 26, 2025, at her residence in Albemarle, North Carolina. We give thanks for the many beautiful memories and the years we shared her life. She was born, November 27, 1940, in Stanly County, North Carolina; and was the daughter of Hellena Kendall Wilson and Henry Allen. She was lovingly reared by Lola Mae Lilly who was generous, supportive and kind to Sarah and Sarah’s children who they called Grandmother. The sunny days will not be as bright, nor the laughter as loud during our many family celebrations; but Sarah’s light will shine forever in our hearts. May she rest in the Arms of Our Father and soar with the angels.

Sarah was educated in the Stanly County Public schools and attended Kingville High School, Albemarle. Never idle, always busy, Sarah worked in the textile, manufacturing industry, and school cafeteria. She often said that the best profession she had was that of a homemaker. She was a devoted wife and loving mother to her children.

She and her family were faithful members of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Albemarle, where Sarah served on the Missionary Board and Pastor’s Aide Committee. She was a former member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church,  Ansonville, North Carolina. Prior to declining health, Sarah enjoyed cooking and baking scrumptious meals for her family, especially on Sunday. Sarah was quite the fashionista. She loved shopping, wore beautiful clothes, and was always impeccably dressed.

Sarah was married to Phillip Augusta Clark for fifty-five years before his passing in 2022.Others that welcomed Sarah to her heavenly home were her daughter, Sonya Clark; parents; sisters: Betty Christian, Margaret Ann Kendall, and Jahalia Owens; special niece,  Arlendar Watkins.

Sarah is survived by her devoted daughter, Jorita Clark; sons: Kenneth (Kimberly) Clark, Kelvin “Toby” (Caroline) Clark, Kerry Clark (Alfreshia Carpenter); ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; special friends: Sarah Tyson, Mary Mims,  Rachel Hough, and Gracie Williams; many other relatives and dear friends.

Life won’t be the same without Mom, but we find comfort knowing she’s reunited with our father.
