Samuel Watkins Obituary

Samuel Marshall Watkins was called to eternal rest, Friday, February 24, 2023. Affectionately known as, “Sam”, he was born October 22, 1959, in Stanly County, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Eugene and Ethel Mae Dockery Watkins. Sam possessed a kind, and generous spirit. He was the life of the party and always kept things lively. Gone from our home, but never from our hearts, Sam’s memory will be cherished.

Educated in the Stanly County Public Schools, Sam graduated in the class of 1976 from West Stanly High School, Red Cross, North Carolina. He was employed in the textile industry for many years.

As a youngster, Sam joined Saint Matthews United Church of God, Oakboro, North Carolina. His family have been life-long members of Saint Mathews. In his leisure, Sam enjoyed dancing, fishing, and spending time with his family.

His parents and siblings: Virginia Dunlap, Lee Edward Watkins, and Ray Dunlap preceded him in death.

Saddened by his death, but comforted by cherished memories, Sam will be remembered fondly by his brother and sister-in-law, Willie and Mary Watkins; sister, Clara Hunter; aunt, Bernice Thomas; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
