Rosa Mae Baldwin, age 93, was called to eternal rest Sunday, April 26, 2020. Mae, as she was affectionately called, was born August 17, 1926 in Richmond County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Lacy Jr. and Lucy Robinson Baldwin. Mae was the matriarch of the Baldwin family. She was loved, adored and visited daily by family and friends. Most Gracious and Loving Father we give thanks for Mae’s life and though her physical presence is no longer of this earth; she will be lovingly remembered.
She attended the Richmond County public schools and was employed with Federal Pacific Company, Albemarle, North Carolina before her retirement.
Mae was a life-long dedicated member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Albemarle. At Mt. Zion she was “Mother” of the Church, former President of the Usher Board, Missionary Board, Pastor’s Aide and Culinary Staff Member. Even when her health began to decline, she was faithful and still attended her beloved Mt. Zion. She prepared splendid meals, especially fried apple jacks, for her family and friends, and caring for her grandchildren brought her great delight. Her family called her the “Yard Sale Queen” as she loved to shop and find a great bargain. But most of all, Mae was family centered and enjoyed the many birthdays, graduations, family reunions and other family celebrations.
Her journey in this life has come to an end and she now joins her parents, Lacy Sr. and Lucy; children: Vanessa Baldwin, Gwendolyn Baldwin and Gary Baldwin; siblings: Agnes Greer, Sarah Nettles, Herbert Baldwin, Lacy Baldwin Jr., James “Nat” Baldwin and Rankin Baldwin in a place where we have been told is beyond compare in every way.
Her grace, her smile and kind demeanor will be revered by her daughters: Jannie McDonald, Albemarle, Barbara Joiner, Carneys Point, New Jersey, Monica Baldwin, Cynthia Baldwin, Linda Jo Rose, and Lucinda Baldwin Burns all of Albemarle ; sons: Zander Robinson, Pennsgrove, Ronald Baldwin, Eddie Baldwin and Shawn (Tomeika) Baldwin, all of Albemarle; twenty three grandchildren; thirty three great grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; sister, Emma Tyson, Albemarle; brother, Bobby Baldwin, Albemarle; granddaughter reared in the home, LaToya Baldwin; Godsons: Todd Lilly and Quantos Garmon, both of Albemarle; Goddaughter, Darkisha “Dee” (Harry) McLendon, Albemarle; best friend, Alice Davis, Albemarle; many other relatives, church members, and countless friends too numerous to name.
