Our Father who is all wise and omnipotent called Robert Lee Watkins Jr. from labor to rest, Wednesday, June 28, 2023. In a few weeks, Robert would have celebrated his 84th birthday on July 13th. Born in Anson County, North Carolina, Robert was the son of Robert Lee Sr. and Catherine Davenport Watkins. He was known for his candid and jovial demeanor. An unforgettable individual, he was also known as (aka) Robert Lee, Bruh, Bobby, and Sporty Bob. Robert was quite the conversationalist, enjoyed meeting people, and kept things lively. We give honor and glory to Our Lord and Savior for the many years we shared his life. The memories we shared will forever live in our hearts.
Robert was educated in the Stanly County public schools and graduated from West Badin High School, Badin, North Carolina. In high school, Robert was an outstanding member of the varsity basketball team. He loved the game of golf, and in his younger years he was a caddy for the more accomplished golfers. Robert retired from Collins and Aikman as a Production Analyst, Norwood, North Carolina after many years of dedicated service.
Robert was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Badin. In his pastime, he enjoyed watching sports and mesmerizing his family and friends with masterful card tricks and laughs. Always stylishly dressed, Robert had a flair for fashion and stylish fedora hats to compliment the attire. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Robert has finished his life’s journey and joined his parents and brothers: Johnny Frank Watkins, Larry Watkins, and Michael Louis Watkins in a place of serenity and contentment.
