Robert L. Tyson Sr. transitioned to eternal rest, Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Robert was born June 12, 1935, in Anson County, North Carolina to the parentage of Joseph and Ollie Davis Tyson. Robert lived a quiet, easy-going life filled with kindness, gratitude and above all love for his family and friends. He enriched our lives and brightened our days. We will miss his presence, but we are comforted in knowing that he is resting in God’s Care.
He received his formal education in the Anson County Public Schools and was employed for many years in the textile industry. Never idle, Robert owned and operated Tyson Variety Store, Ansonville. He was also employed with Food Lion Incorporated; and he owned and operated a lawn and landscaping business. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing and watching the Steve Harvey Show. Robert loved fashion and was always impeccably dressed.
A believer, Robert was a life-long member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Ansonville where he was a Trustee Board member. Robert was a dedicated member until declining health did not permit his participation.
Those who preceded him in death were his parents, sons: Reggie Tyson and Terry Smith; and son-in-law, Herman “Bo” McLendon.
Robert and Ada were a devoted couple who celebrated sixty-six years of marriage in July 2025.
Gone from our homes, but forever in our hearts, Robert’s memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Ada K. Tyson; sons: Robert D. Tyson, William “Lep” Turner, and Tim G. Turner; daughter, Debbie T. McLendon; daughter-in-law, Marjorie Tyson; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; sister, Addie Robinson; brother, Nathaniel (Rachel) Davis; brother-in-law, Jessie (Eleanor) Smith; special cousins: Annie M. Wall and Willie (Ollie) Tyson; a host of other relatives and countless friends.
