Robert Lee Parker

Robert L. Parker, affectionately known as Shame and Bob, was born on July 17, 1948, to the late Golar Leon Parker Jr and to the late Kizzie Lilly Parker. He departed this life on May 17, 2025. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Viola and Golar Parker, his maternal grandparents Henry and Amie Lilly; and his siblings: James Parker, Henrietta Medley and Agnes Crump.

Robert was born in Albemarle, North Carolina. He graduated from Albemarle Senior High School and earned an A.A.S. in Business Administration as well as a Teachers Associate degree, along with a certificate in Bookkeeping II. Additionally, he was working towards his A.A.S. degree in Microcomputer Systems Technology at Central Piedmont Community College.

Throughout his career, he spent several years working as a receptionist at Stanley Technical College, in addition to dedicating many years as the Accounts Receivable Clerk at Goodwill Industries. The remainder of his career was devoted to tutoring in computer skills.

He was a passionate supporter of both the Cowboys and the Carolina Panthers football teams. His interests encompassed Bid Whist, collecting DVD movies, photography, enjoying music, cooking, and purchasing extravagant gifts for family and friends.

Robert leaves behind cherished memories with his daughter, Sonya Horne; granddaughter, Dagney Horne; and great-grandson, De’Kaleb Harris. He is also survived by his siblings: Elaine (Norris) Smith, Rickie (Scenitha) Parker, and Amy Parker Thomas. His aunts include Leacy Mae Flake and Francis Walker. He served as godfather to John Copeland, Agnes Parker, and Shantika Williams. Special cousin and brother, Jeffery Flake, along with handyman cousin, Brico Flake, will also remember him fondly. Additionally, he leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
