Rachel Victoria (Funderburk) Hough

Our Father in his infinite wisdom called, Rachel Victoria Funderburk Hough, to eternal rest, Thursday, December 11, 2025. A bright and shining star, Rachel was born September 15, 1955, in Albemarle, North Carolina; and was the beloved daughter of William and Cora Elizabeth Williams Funderburk.  Rachel was a blessing to her family and friends. She was the epitome of compassion, graciousness, and generosity. Our loss is heaven’s gain. We give thanks for the years we shared her life and find solace in knowing she is in God’s care. Her light will forever shine until we meet again.

Rachel was educated in the Stanly County Public Schools and graduated in the class of 1973 from Albemarle Senior High School. She furthered her education at Stanly Community College. She was employed with the City of Albemarle, as Director of the Public Housing Authority. After a stellar career, Rachel retired in October 2020.

A woman of faith, Rachel was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Albemarle where she was former president of the Missionary Board, Trustee member, Praise Team member, Mass Choir member, Pastor’s Aide and Culinary Staff member. Never idle, Rachel was committed to serving and advocating for members in the community where she was employed for thirty years. She loved her job and helping others.

In her leisure, she enjoyed traveling, arts and crafts, cooking, interior design and spending time with family and friends. As forementioned, Rachel always found time to lend a helping hand. She will be remembered for her loving and affable personality that endeared her to those she met along the way.

Her parents and brothers: Herman Funderburk, Dwight Funderburk, and Tony Funderburk preceded her in death.

Rachel will be remembered and treasured by her son, Audreius R. Ridenhour; daughters: Aneshia D. Ridenhour, Deneshia A. Ridenhour and Latonya M. (Tim) Ridenhour- Jones; grandchildren: Shavona, Monè, Andre, Jackson, Grayson, Addison, and Emerson; seven great grandchildren; sister, Vanessa F. DeBerry; brother, Richard L. Williams; a host of other relatives and friends.

In the garden of Eternity, Rachel blooms forever. Her life blossomed with joy, peace, and a quiet radiance that warmed every space she entered. Loving memories will live forever
