Nakolai Evans Obituary

A celebration and joyful thanksgiving for the life of Nakolai Renee Butler Evans, age 61, who gave up time for eternity, Monday, January 24, 2022, while a patient at Forrest Oakes Healthcare Center, Albemarle, North Carolina. Nakolai was a sweet spirit. She gave of herself unconditionally to her family and friends. Heaven has gained an Angel, and we have been blessed to have shared a wonderful life. We are comforted in knowing that she has gained her wings; and is now in God’s Care.

Nakolai’s journey began on December 18, 1960, in Montgomery County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Claude and Lula Mae Brown Butler. Nakolai, was a homemaker. She often said that her greatest profession was that of being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was a woman of faith and a member of Cottonville African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Norwood, North Carolina. Prior to declining health, she enjoyed attending church services. Nakolai enjoyed listening to music. Her favorite artists were from the Motown Sound which included:  Marvin Gaye and Howard Hewitt. She also loved watching her favorite movie, “Sweet Home Alabama”. As stated previously, one of her most treasured joys was spoiling her family and ensuring they were properly cared for.

Her parents; granddaughter, JaBria Melton; and brother, Gregory Butler preceded her in death.

Loving memories will forever be held in the hearts of her husband, Tony Evans; daughters:  Atilya (Johan) Melton; Tremyne Hester (Marcus Allen) and Avery Evans; grandchildren: Jaquavis (Railey) Melton, Javontay Melton, Elijah Hester-Hough, Pharez Clarke and A’Lauryn Clarke; great granddaughter, Jaleah Melton; in-laws: Robert (Donnie) Evans, Annette Evans, Robert (Lisa) Dixon and Joyce Smith; special nieces: Cherye McLendon, Tiffany Davis and DaQuesha Merriman; Goddaughters: April McMillian and Jasmine Rodriquez; a host of other relatives and friends.

“Good night Nakolai, may flights of Angels sing thee thy rest”.
