Montrose Hopper Lilly

We walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Therefore we labor, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted by Him.

Our Father in is divine and infinite wisdom called Montrose Hopper Lilly to eternal rest Sunday, September 8, 2024. Born in Grover, NC, Montrose was the daughter of McBride and Annie Sue Hopper. She was a treasure on earth, and showed love, kindness and generosity to family and friends. Her bright light will forever live in our hearts. We give thanksgiving to Our Lord and Savior for her life and the many memories we shared.

Montrose graduated Class of 1965, Granard High School, Gaffney, SC and went on to earn a certification in Bible Studies at More Than Conquerors Ministries. After 50 years in the textile industry, she retired from Auria Textiles, formerly Collins & Aikman.  Montrose was a seamstress as one of her many talents was sewing. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice that is now harmonizing with the angels in heaven.

Montrose was a devoted member of Spirit and Truth United Church of Worship, Albemarle, NC, where she served as an Associate Minister. Montrose was a woman of abiding faith. She led powerful prayers for healing, the uplifting of God's Kingdom, and the blessed seeds of tithing. She had a quiet demeanor with a soft and reassuring voice that endeared her to those she met along the way. Montrose was best known for her strong belief in God’s word and leading people to live a Christian life by walking in love and showing others how to do the same.

Heaven has gained an Angel and Montrose has joined her parents; and siblings: JD Hopper, Ernest Hopper, Edna Hamrick, Joannah Palmer, Dean Hopper, Earl Hopper, Newton Hopper, Mack Hopper, Ed Hopper, Angie Lou Russell, Agnes Hopper, and Maggie Hopper. We are comforted in knowing that she is at home safely in God's Hands.

Montrose's life will forever be cherished and remembered by her sons: Orlando (Angelica) Lilly, of Ellicott City, MD and Phillip (Toni) Lilly, of Owings Mills, MD; daughter, Moneeka (Brian) Evans of Mount Juliet, TN; grandchildren: Naomi Lilly, Samuel Lilly, Imani Black, Christyn Lilly ,Bryant Evans, Brooke Evans, Brilynn Evans, Charisma Evans, Raven Evans; siblings: Lois (Eugene) Lockhart and Ray Hopper; sister-in-law, Alvina Hopper; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
