Mildred Davis Obituary

Great is Our Heavenly Father who is perfect and wise has seen fit to call our dearly loved Mildred Isabella Dillard Davis to eternal rest on Sunday, April 19, 2020. Born November 26, 1926 in Davie County, North Carolina, Mildred was the daughter of the late Alfred Fred and Martha Brown Dillard. Over the years her kind deeds and humanity for mankind touched so many lives. The memories we shared will remain in our hearts forever. We give honor and glory for a life loved and well lived.

Mildred was a 1945 graduate of West Badin High School, Badin, North Carolina. She furthered her education at DeShazor Beauty College, Durham, North Carolina. One of the most important professions she enjoyed was homemaker to her family. She was matriarch to the Badin Community.

Accomplished, generous and a revered community leader are just a few of the fine qualities Mildred possessed. She was involved, civic minded and dedicated to her church. A life-long member of McDonald Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Badin, Mildred received recognition as an “80 Year Member” during the Church’s Anniversary in March of this year. She was former pianist and organist for the church, former Trustee Board member, Stewardess Board #1 Member, Missionary Board member, Senior Choir member, Sunday School teacher and church seamstress. She was a member of the  Badin Chapter #457 Order of Eastern Star Pha. In her leisure, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, solving crossword puzzles and drawing. Mildred loved fashion and was always impeccably dressed.

Mildred was married to Melton Davis who died in 2003. Her siblings: Grace D. Cole, Sarah D. Guine, Faye Dean Dillard and John Dillard also preceded her in death.

A legacy of love, devotion and a wealth of memories are left with her daughters: Marva Davis, Durham, North Carolina, Kaye Davis Mangum, Ed.
