Mary Edith Goode Brown, age 76 gave up time for Eternity and entered Heaven’s Gate Tuesday, February 25,2020 while a patient at Liberty Commons and Rehabilitation Center, Salisbury, North Carolina. Mary was born May 6, 1943 in Stanly County, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Alvester Goode and Essie Mae McLendon Goode. We give honor and praise to Our Lord and Savior for allowing us to spend many cherished years with our loved one.
She attended the Stanly County public schools and graduated from West Badin High School, Badin, North Carolina. Mary furthered her education at Stanly Technical Community College, Albemarle where she received her electrician certification. For many years she was employed as a Bingo Coordinator, and a bus driver for Albemarle City Schools.
Mary was a former member of First Baptist Church, Badin. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, PHA #457, Badin. Mary enjoyed spending time with family and friends. One of her favorite hobbies was playing bingo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Melvin “Pete” Brown and a brother, Kester Gene Goode.
Saddened by her death but comforted by loving and fond memories are daughters: Jamie Howell, Salisbury, Linda (Antonio) Little, Concord, North Carolina, Cookie (Reginald) Phillips, Spencer, North Carolina and Kenyatta (AJ) Lott, Kannapolis, North Carolina; sons: Ernest Cunningham, Monroe, North Carolina, Johnny (Bertha) Sturdivant, Ansonville, North Carolina, William Goode, Salisbury, Ernest (Bonita) Brown Jr., LaGrange, Georgia and Corey Brown, Salisbury; a granddaughter reared in the home, Menieka (Donnell) Brown Davis; twenty-eight grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; sisters: Elaine (Sylvester) Caple, Sarah Legrand, both of Badin, JoAnn (Douglas) Evans, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Dara Thomas, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Tinsley Walker, Charlotte, North Carolina; brothers: Alvester “Buster” (Brenda) Goode, Badin, Ernest Goode, Salisbury, and William (Anita) Goode, Greensboro, North Carolina; Brothers and Sisters-in-law: Artis (Margretta) Brown, Christine B. Connor, Gracie B. Coble; Goddaughter, Twila Thomas; special aunts: Vera McLendon and Jenetta “Lois” Johnson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
