Obituary

During this Advent Season, we celebrate the life of Mabel Jessie Christian, who went home to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Tuesday, December 21, 2021. Mabel had a quiet, sweet spirit who greeted others with a smile and a kind word. She was born in Stanly County, North Carolina on August 20, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Vastie and Maggie Barger Christian. We not only celebrate her life, but we give thanksgiving for the many years we shared the life of a woman of faith who made our lives fuller and brighter by her generosity and kindness.

She was educated in the Stanly County public schools and graduated from the historic Kingville High School, Albemarle, North Carolina. Mabel was a retired employee of the Stanly County Board of Education, Albemarle.

A believer, Mabel and her family were devoted members of Parkers Grove Baptist Church, New London, North Carolina. Involved and dedicated, she was a former president of the Pastor’s Aide and Kitchen Staff Committees. She was also a member of the Church Choir, Missionary Society and former Sunday School Secretary.

She has reunited with her parents, and her siblings: Catherine Lilly, Julius Christian, and Clarence Griffin in a place where every day is like Sunday, and all is tranquil.

Mabel is survived by her devoted daughter, Daven “Dawn” Little; grandson, Garcel Christian; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

As we say goodnight to Mabel, let us stand together in love, peace, and joy for a life well lived and a life remembered with fondness.
