Our beloved, Linda Hough Benson, age 73, transitioned to eternal rest, Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at her residence in New London, North Carolina. Linda was born in Stanly County, North Carolina on February 18, 1948. She was the daughter of John and Lee Anna Lindsey Hough, who preceded her in death. We give thanks to Our Lord and Savior for the years we shared a wonderful life. We find solace in knowing that she is resting in God’s hand and is soaring with the Angels.
Educated in the Stanly County public schools, Linda graduated in the class of 1966 from West Badin High School, Badin, North Carolina. She was a homemaker and enjoyed making sure that her family was loved and cared for.
Linda was a member of Miracle Faith Temple of God Church, Albemarle, North Carolina. In her leisure, she enjoyed fishing with her husband in the family pond, cooking a scrumptious meal, and baking a heavenly dessert that was enjoyed by all. She loved listening and singing Gospel music. One of her favorite pleasures was spending time with her family and caring for her grandchildren, who called her Mama.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Evangelist Emma Jean Richardson, and her brothers: Johnny Hough Sr., Joshua Hough, and Samuel Hough.
Cherished and loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of her husband of fifty-three years, Major Benson, New London; daughters: Kimberly Little, Kannapolis, North Carolina, and Tara (Jesse) Merrell, Concord, North Carolina; son, Derik Benson, Charleston, South Carolina; one grandchild, Whitley Benson was reared in the home; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brothers: Tommy Hough, Raeford, North Carolina, Willie Hough, and Charles Hough, both of Albemarle, North Carolina; brother-in-law, Jeter Benson; sister-in-law, Lasina Harrell; a host of other relatives and friends.
We remember a beautiful life. As we say our goodbye, we are filled with sadness, but we know that we will see our loved one again in that ‘Great Getting Up Morning’.
