Kathryn Parker Obituary

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.                                                                                                                                                                                                                         II Timothy 4:7,8

Our beloved matriarch, Kathryn Lilly Parker, entered Eternal rest July 20, 2019. She was born August 16, 1946 in Stanly County, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Elder Haywood and Lizzie M. DeBerry Lilly. .

Kathryn had a purpose driven life in that she was a loving caregiver, an advocate for those who did not have a voice and most of all, she believed that how a person lived their life on this earth was key to inner peace and happiness.

She was accomplished. Kathryn’s proudest and happiest role in the world was being a mother and grandmother. Although never published, she was an amazing poet who enjoyed sharing her writings with family and friends. Kathryn loved singing and the joy that it brought to others. She did not seek the limelight, but sought God’s everlasting light. What she strived to do every day was to live the best life possible and to be a blessing to those around her.

She lived a life filled with a strong faith and love. She now rests in the Arms of Our Lord and Savior and joins her parents; brothers: Herman L. Lilly and Grier C. Lilly  in a place we are told is perfect in every way.

Kathryn is survived by a devoted and loving family who will forever cherish her memory. Survivors are her daughters: Kimberley (Rodney) Hammonds, Salisbury, North Carolina and Adria Parker, Charlotte, North Carolina; son, Justin Parker, Greensboro, North Carolina; grandchildren: KèShon Hammonds, Londyn Jones, Hailey Parker and Antavia Digsby; sister, Emma Lilly, Washington, District of Columbia; brothers: Levander (Ethel) Lilly, Fleming Island, Florida, Harold (Virginia) Lilly and John (Patricia) Lilly, both of Wake Forest, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Patricia Lilly, Charleston, South, Carolina; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

“Good night sweet Kathryn, may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”
