Jimmy Watkins Obituary

Jimmy Eugene Watkins, age 72, answered Our Heavenly Father’s call to eternal rest on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 while a patient at Woodhaven Court, Albemarle, North Carolina. He was born April 15, 1948 in Stanly County, North Carolina. His parents were the late James E. and Jessie Mae (Watkins) Watkins. Jimmy was the oldest of three brothers and they were close. Melvin, the lone survivor, visited Jimmy often at Woodhaven. Fond memories of the love, brotherhood and friendship will remain in our hearts forever. Jimmy will be missed.

He attended Stanly County public schools and graduated from the historic Kingville High School, Albemarle. Prior to retirement, Jimmy was a brick mason and was employed with Lyles McSwain Brick Masonry, Albemarle.

The Watkins Family were life-long members of Bennettsville African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Norwood, North Carolina. Prior to declining health, Jimmy enjoyed attending church services and other church activities. His favorite hobby was playing baseball and watching the games on television.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Doraine L. Watkins; and youngest brother, Steve Watkins preceded him in death.

Jimmy is survived by his sons: Donald Ray Crump and Johnathan Staton; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Deborah Blanding Watkins, Albemarle; aunt, Flora Watkins, Norwood; special nieces: Shantina (James) Benjamin and Kamisha Steele; special nephews: Donald Crump and Antonio Allen; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

                                                   Love YOU Bro

Whenever I visited Jimmy he always said,

“That’s my brother, I love my brother”.

I will miss you Jimmy. Until we meet again,

                                            Rest in Peace!

                                                                                           Love,

                                                                                           Your brother,

                                                                                            Melvin

“Good night Jimmy, may flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest!”
