Jessie Mae “Dollbaby” Horne Spencer, age 92, transitioned to eternal rest Sunday, April 19, 2020 at her residence in Badin, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Hellen Moore Horne. Jessie was born on December 6, 1927 in Anson County, North Carolina. We give thanksgiving for Jessie’s life. She will be dearly missed.
She attended the Stanly County, North Carolina public schools and graduated from West Badin High School, Badin. Jessie was a retired nurse from W. G. Hefner Veterans Administration Medical Center, Salisbury, North Carolina. Her career spanned over fifty-two years in the healthcare field. Jessie enjoyed caring for and helping our veterans achieve a quality life while in her care.
Jessie was a member of Faith Hope and Charity Church, Albemarle under the pastorage of Reverend Curtis Long, Sr. She was a former member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Badin.
Her parents; husband, Russell Spencer; daughter, Barbara Edwards Wilson; brothers: Fred Junior Horne and Valonza Horne preceded her in death.
Jessie’s memory will remain in the hearts of her brothers: Reverend Roosevelt “Chuck” Horne, Albemarle, North Carolina and Dr. Charles A. Horne, Tacoma, Washington; other relatives and friends.
