Janie Richardson Obituary

Janie Stover Richardson, age 89, was called to Eternal Rest, Tuesday, October 27, 2020. She was born May 5, 1931 in Camden, South Carolina. Her parents were the late Selvyn Sr. and Mamie Drakeford Stover. We give thanks to The Almighty, Maker of all things for his grace and his mercy. We are eternally grateful for the many years we shared our beloved’s life. We will miss her dearly and will hold the many memories close in our hearts.

She was educated in the Camden, Kershaw County, South Carolina public schools and was employed as a home health aide in the medical field until her retirement.

Janie’s church affiliation was with Macedonia Baptist Church, Midland, North Carolina. There she enjoyed and served faithfully until health challenges prevented her attendance. She enjoyed bowling and watching television game shows. Janie also loved watching news programs to keep abreast of current and world events. Other interests included: watching basketball games, traveling, and shopping.

She was joined in holy matrimony to Douglas Richardson on July 6, 1950. Shortly after marriage, they moved to Brooklyn, New York where the reared their children.  They were in Brooklyn for over forty years and after retirement they relocated to Stanfield, North Carolina.  He preceded her in death April 12, 2005. In addition to her husband, their grandson, Onnie Williams, Jr., and her siblings; brothers: Robert, Lewis, Cornell, Thomas, Henry, James and Selvyn Jr; sisters: Mittie, Mabel, Willalee, Virginia and Lillie Mae.

Left to cherish a legacy of love, fond memories, great respect and adoration are her daughter, Deloris (Onnie) Richardson-Williams, Sr, Queens, New York; grandchildren: Dwayne (Tywanna) Williams, Desean Williams and Damiel Williams, all of Brooklyn, New York, Latonya (Lamont) Williams-Watson, Queens, New York; and; six great grandchildren; seven great great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
