Our beloved, Henry Leonard Harris transitioned to eternal rest Monday morning, July 5, 2021 while a patient at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Albemarle, North Carolina. He was born on the 28th day of December in the year 1958. His parents, Ed and Allene Kirk Harris preceded him in death. Henry fought a courageous fight; he has finished his course on this earth, and now he is resting in the Arms of Our Maker, Jesus Christ. We give honor and glory for his life; and we find solace in knowing he is at rest.
“Hen”, as he was affectionately known attended North Stanly High School, New London, North Carolina. He was employed in the family pulpwood business for many years; and he also worked for J. T. Russell Construction Company, New London.
He was born into a Christian family and was a former member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Albemarle, North Carolina. “Hen” was an avid sports enthusiast, who enjoyed watching basketball, football, and baseball. He enjoyed swimming, fishing and was a great fan of NASCAR. He also was a great cook who enjoyed cooking for his family, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Along with his parents, his brothers: Ronald Harris and Bobby Ray Harris welcomed him to a place of peace and tranquility.
Another limb has fallen from the family tree, but it is a limb that will never be forgotten. We will not grieve Henry’s death, but we will celebrate his life, and give thanksgiving for the many memories. He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Denice Wright Harris, Badin; daughters: Keeyeria Wright, Keosha Harris, both of Albemarle, and Keondra Harris, Badin; son, Leonard Fleming, Welcome, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; brothers: Clarence (Connie), Anthony, Steven Sr., Nathan (Sarah), David, Stanley, James, Samuel, and Michael; sisters: Phyllis Gramling, Winifred Kendall, Eddrena Knight, Tami (Larry) Leak, Jessie Rivers, Jacqueline Harris, Janet Little, and Katherine Harris; aunt, Louise Harris; uncles: John (Brenda) and Arthur Kirk Sr.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
