In sweet peace, Hattie Jane Dockery, transitioned to eternal rest, Wednesday, October 8, 2025, while a patient at Atrium Health, Albemarle, North Carolina. Born September 1, 1950, in Stanly County, North Carolina, Hattie was the daughter of Lewis and Mary Jane Smith Dockery. Lovingly known by ‘‘Baby” and “Carrie” by family and friends. Our hearts grieve for her passing and rejoice in knowing she is resting in the arms of Our Lord and Savior. Her memory will forever be cherished.
Hattie attended the Stanly County public schools. She was employed with the Stanly County Board of Education as a bus driver, and with the Walmart Corporation in food service.
A woman of faith, Hattie joined Cedar Hill A.M.E. Zion Church, Ansonville, North Carolina and was a faithful member until declining health did not permit her participation. She also enjoyed attending Barringer Chapel Baptist Church, Norwood, North Carolina. Hattie loved family, enjoyed spending time with them, and cooking favorite meals for family celebrations. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Cleo Chapter 122, Prince Hall Affiliated.
Heaven has gained an angel. Hattie has joined her parents, Lewis and Mary Jane Dockery; brothers: John Smith, Willie L. Dockery, and Walter C. Dockery; sisters: Dorothy McLendon and Marie Clark in a place of peace and tranquility.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories are her daughters: Sylvia (Keith) Murphy and DJana (Durand) Green; son, Andre’ (Nicole) Dockery Sr. ; grandchildren: Kavin, James, DaQuisha, Shakerra, Makayla, KJ , Andre’ Jr., Deasia, Jaquies, and Jadaisha; great grandchildren: Kylan, Kinston, Dinero, Ja’Maya, and King James; God daughters: Shanteka, Kelly, Sarah, Wendy, and Lora; sisters-in-law: Harriet Dockery and Nadena Clark; special friends: Shirlene Collins, Vonnell Shankle, Linda Harris, Carla Gramling, and Gwen Bouleware; godson, Ketric Allen; a host of other relatives and dear friends.
