Harriet O'Keith (Copeland) Wilson

First Lady Harriet Wilson was born on October 13, 1960, to the late John Willie Copeland and Dora Lee Copeland. She departed this life on April 22, 2025. She was preceded in death by her father, John Willie Copeland and her maternal grandmother, Cora Comb Brooks.

Harriet was born in Albemarle, North Carolina, and graduated from Henninger High School in Syracuse, NY. She served for ten years in the Army Reserve and married Michael Wilson in 1987, with whom she had one daughter, Shannon Darcel Wilson.

Throughout her career, she worked as a licensed insurance agent and was a Mary Kay sales consultant for over twenty years. For a decade, she held the position of executive office secretary at Trinity Care of the Carolinas. As First Lady, she serves alongside her husband, Pastor Wilson, at Vision for Life Church, fulfilling various roles including youth leader, worship leader, praise dance, and executive secretary. She actively was involved in women’s ministries, serves as a minister and was a dedicated prayer warrior and counselor throughout her Christian journey in various churches.

First Lady Harriet Wilson leaves to cherish her memories, husband Michael Wilson of 38 years of marriage, with a total of 45 years of being together; three daughters, Shannon Wilson (Abdul), LaKina Lilly and Andrica Lilly. Grandchildren: Malachi Wilson, Naheem Bogar, Atari Davis, Alijah Lilly, Kalix Sellers and Kace Sellers. She also leaves her mother Dora Lee Copeland and mother-in-law, Lula Wilson A.K.A “Lu”. Siblings: Tim Smith, Kimberly Thomas, Deborah Copeland, John Michael Copeland, Donald Copeland (Denise), Arloishia Israel (Daryl), Angela Brice and Afiya Moore (Patrick), In-laws: Mary Linda Watkins, Larry Cato (Shea), Virginia Greens (Rondy), Warren Wilson Jr., Adlay Wilson and Keith Wilson. She also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Best friends: Sharon Muhammad, Dietra Williams and Claudette Morris (preceded in death). Very Special persons Philemon Everson and Amy Parker Thomas.

Harriet’s beautiful memories will be cherished by countless close loving relatives and friends.
