Gertrude Lilly

Our beloved, Gertrude Lucille Lilly, entered peaceful rest, Sunday, July 26, 2020 while a patient at Atrium Health-Cabarrus, Concord, North Carolina. She was born February 27, 1930 in Montgomery County, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Alice Cardelia Lilly and Adam Parker. “Gert’ as she was fondly known enjoyed life and enjoyed meeting people. Her presence is no longer of this earth, but her memory will remain in our hearts through eternity.

She attended the Montgomery County public schools and relocated to the Stanly County community over sixty-five years ago. Upon relocating, she was employed with Piedmont Cleaners and Almo Cleaners, Albemarle, North Carolina.

Gert was a believer and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a former member of Union Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Albemarle. She later joined Saints Delight Church, Albemarle where she was a former member of the Missionary Circle and Pastor’s Aide Auxiliary. Gert enjoyed the spirited services and other church programs at Saints Delight. She was community oriented and volunteered with Community Outreach Ministries, Albemarle. In her leisure, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Her parents; son, Gerald Lilly; and sisters: Leona Rivers and Alice Glen Green welcomed Gert to her Heavenly home.

Memories of the love we shared will be cherished by her grandsons: Aaron (Benita) Drye, Sickleville, Virginia and Gerell Lilly, Willingboro, New Jersey; granddaughter, Geralda Swarigen, Rock Hill, South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Evangeline Lilly, Willingboro, New Jersey; grandchildren: Brittainy Swarigen, Gabriel Hughes, James Swarigen II, Ariana Drye, and Gerald Drye; great grandchildren: McKenzi Mitchell, Salieal Mitchell, Landyn McNeil, Emberlyn Hughes, and Emerson Hughes; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

As we say farewell to our beloved Gert, we remember the wonderful years we shared her life. We are comforted in knowing that she now rests in the Arms of Our Lord and Savior. God has another beautiful flower for His garden.
