Genesa McLendon Seegars departed this life, Sunday, October 31, 2021, at her home in Baltimore, Maryland. She was born January 17, 1956, in Stanly County, North Carolina; and was the daughter of the late James McLendon and Geneva Little McLendon. When tomorrow starts and Genesa is no longer in our presence, we will remember her with fondness and thanksgiving for a life well lived.
She was educated in the Stanly County public schools and graduated in the class of 1973 from North Stanly High School, New London, North Carolina. In high school she was an outstanding basketball player, and a member of the All- Star Basketball Team, where she played the guard position. In 1975, she received her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Stanly Community College, Albemarle, North Carolina. Prior to retirement, Genesa was employed with the United States Postal Service for many years.
A woman of faith, Genesa began her Christian journey at an early age. She was a member of Saint Luke Holiness Church, Badin, North Carolina. On February 14, 1976, Genesa and Charles Freeman Seegars married at Saint Luke. After marriage, they moved to Baltimore Maryland, where they reared their children: Trason and Geneida.
Together again, Genesa has reunited with her parents and her brothers: Herman and Billy who preceded her in death this year.
Family and friends who mourn Genesa’s passing and who will remember her forever are, her daughter, Geneida Seegars; son, Trason (Regina)Seegars; grandchildren: Aliya Kirkpatrick, Ian Seegars-Kirkpatrick, Indira Kirkpatrick, Da’Shawn Benton, De’ Asia Ragland and A’Niyah Ockimey; great grandchildren: Logan Kirkpatrick and Bella Kirkpatrick; sister, Thelonious (Thomas) Wright; sisters-in-law: Debbie McLendon and Mechelle Mc Lendon; uncles: Ernest Little, George (Janice) McLendon, and Steve (Laurie) McLendon; aunts: Lucille Little, Blondie Burns, and Mary (Michael) Hale; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
