Gary Leon Peoples, age 64, gave up time for eternity, Thursday, November 7, 2024, while a patient at Atrium Health, Albemarle, North Carolina. Born May 16, 1960, in Stanly County, North Carolina, Gary was the son of Herbert and Betty Robinson Peoples. He was easy- going and always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed his assistance. Not one to require a lot of attention, but one who was a friend to family and friends; and one who could be dependent on. We will carry with us loving memories of Gary.
He was educated in the Stanly County public schools and graduated from North Stanly High School, Class of 1978, New London, North Carolina. Gary served honorably in the United States Army. He had a 28 1/2year career with the Stanly County Board of Education, Maintenance Department. Gary enjoyed interacting with the students at Badin Elementary School whose lives he touched as he lovingly gave them “high-fives”, encouraged them to do their homework, and to be good students. The students have said that Gary remembered them on their birthday and gifted them a lollipop. During his pastime, he loved flying drones and tinkering with gadgets.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Herbert Peoples Jr. and Kevin Elliot Peoples.
He is survived by his sisters: Helene Peoples-Simmons and Sheila Peoples; nieces: Shannon Good and Tiffany Simmons; nephew, Justin Inabinet; special aunt, Betty Jean Campbell; a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
