Garry Winfred Davis

Garry Winfred Davis, age 63, transitioned to Eternal rest, Monday, December 7, 2020 while a patient at Atrium Health - Stanly, Albemarle, North Carolina. Fondly known as, “Motion” by family and friends, he was born March 15, 1957 in Stanly County, North Carolina. His parents were the late Walter Lee and Lendora Burns Davis. “Motion” and his family have been life-long residents of Stanly County. He was fun-loving and enjoyed the camaraderie of his many friends. When tomorrow begins and he is no longer in our presence, we will remember “Motion” with love and thanksgiving in our hearts for the many years we shared his life.

“Motion” was educated in the Stanly County public schools and graduated in the class of 1975 from Albemarle Senior High School, Albemarle, North Carolina. He also attended Stanly Community College, Albemarle. After many years of dedicated service, he retired from Martin Industries, formerly McKenzie Company, Albemarle; and he was also employed with Oakwood Homes, Richfield, North Carolina.

He was an avid sportsman. “Motion” enjoyed watching basketball games on television and while in high school, was a star basketball player. In his leisure, he took pride in the maintenance of his automobiles, and ensured they were in mint condition. He had a great sense of humor; kept everything lively, making everyone laugh and enjoy themselves. “Motion” loved his family and friends; and enjoyed spending time with them.

His parents and brother, Walter LaNorris “Talkie” Davis, preceded him in death.

Saying goodbye to “Motion” is difficult, but we find solace in knowing that his life was cherished, and he was dearly loved. We will see him again in that ‘great getting up morning’ when all God’s children come together. His memory will live in the hearts of his wife, Oranger C. Davis; daughter, Kidada Davis; son, Gerrius Davis; grandchildren: David K. Roseboro, Amiracle D. Davis, and Anaesia N. Davis; devoted sister, Patricia D. Pergee, all of Albemarle; sister-in-law, Brenda Davis, New London, North Carolina; brothers-in-law: Darryl (Arthenia) Ellis, Bobby (Yvette) Crump Jr., Lacesta (Renee’) Crump, all of Albemarle, and Eric Crump, Charlotte, North Carolina; sisters-in-law: Babby (Alvester) Palmer, Tammy Burch, both of Charlotte, and Betina Davis, Albemarle; aunt, Martha D. Little, Norwood, North Carolina; uncle, Clyde Davis, Albemarle; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
