Elder Alice (Hooker) Taylor

“As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied when I awake, with thy likeness.”

On Tuesday, December 20, 2016, Elder Alice Hooker Taylor quietly left on her well panned journey to her new home in Glory, on the Glory Express Train Number 2016, Car Number 12, Seat Number 20. Though her earthly life has passed, she leaves a legacy of love to her family, friends, church, and community.

Alice was born in Stanly County, North Carolina, on January 20,1952 to the late George Washington and Eva Alice Tyson Hooker. She received her early education in the Stanly County Public School System and was last employed with Albemarle Spinning Company, Albemarle, North Carolina.

Elder Taylor loved the Lord and didn’t mind telling everyone about the goodness of the Lord. She was fun-loving, kind, well-loved by many and generous with her knowledge, time, and resources. In her leisure, she enjoyed fishing, discussing politics, watching CNN, and spoiling her beautiful grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Apostle Fletcher Taylor; a son, Alonzo Kirk Hooker; a brother, Franklin Hooker and a sister, Brenda Sue McClendon.

Left to cherish her loving memory are, two devoted children: Sharon D. Hooker, Concord, North Carolina and Demecus Hooker, Albemarle, North Carolina; nine grandchildren; three brothers: Melvin (Fleta) Hooker and George (Jeannie) Hooker both of Albemarle, North Carolina, and Leander (Joyce) Hooker, Charlotte, North Carolina; two sisters: Jacqueline Davis, Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Janice (Samuel) Simmons, Brooklyn, New York; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
