Edwin Mac Drye, a cherished, well-lived and loved life was called from labor to reward, June 29, 2024. He was born April 28,1961, in Albemarle, North Carolina to the parentage of Robert Lee and Eloise Pergee Drye. With an unassuming demeanor, Edwin was a man of few words and strong character. He was an individualist, who was calm, composed and easy going. Edwin left us with beautiful memories that will forever live in our hearts. Always a giver, Edwin is now at rest in Our Father’s Garden.
Educated in the Stanly County public schools, he graduated from Albemarle Senior High School Class of 1979, Albemarle and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Pfeiffer University, Misenheimer, North Carolina. Prior to retirement, Edwin was employed with the Social Security Administration, Charlotte, North Carolina.
One of the pillars of the church, Edwin was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, New London, North Carolina, where he served on the Usher Board and sang in the Choir. He was a Bible scholar and a gifted Bible School Teacher. In his leisure, he loved to cook. He was generous and often invited his family to his home where he had prepared delectable meals for their enjoyment. One of his favorite cooking passions was making cheese cake for his family and co-workers. We would be remissed if we did not mention that Edwin loved fashion and was always immaculately dressed.
He has reunited with his parents, Robert and Eloise; his siblings: Eddie Drye, Helen Lilly, and Grace Simon in a place of paradise and tranquility.
Edwin will be forever loved and remembered by his sisters: Mary (John) Edwards, Juanita Hearne, Jessie Davis, Christine (Willie) Cagle, Dorothy Watts, Bertha Blanding, Montesse (Harry) Craig, Barbara Drye, Janet Butler, Lora Clark, and Joyce (Aaron) Wright; brothers: Robert (Denise) Drye Jr., and Felix (Doretha) Drye; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
