Eddie Brown Obituary

Our dearly beloved, Eddie Lee Brown, entered eternal rest, Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at his residence in New London, North Carolina. He was born November 20, 1944 in Stanly County, North Carolina, and was the son of the late Marion and Rudine Cooley Brown. Eddie Lee had a warm, kind demeanor who enjoyed making people smile. His presence is no longer of this earth, but the many shared memories will be everlasting.

Eddie Lee was educated in the Stanly County public school and attended Kingville High School, Albemarle, North Carolina. He retired after many years of dedicated service from the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Albemarle.

A true believer, Eddie and his family were members of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Badin, North Carolina. There he was a member of the Trustee Board until health challenges no longer permitted his active participation. He was also a member of the Male Chorus and former sexton of the church. Fraternal membership was held in the brotherhood of Stanly Lodge 88, PHA, Albemarle where he served as Past Master. He was also a member of the Carolina Thunder Motorcycle Club. Other sources of enjoyment included: spending time with family and friends, hunting, and fishing. Eddie Lee was adventurous and an avid outdoorsman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Eddie Lee Brown Jr.; sisters: Verline Cook, Diane Wright, Marva Rorie and a very special niece, Deyon Rorie Edwards.

Eddie Lee and Brenda Parker Brown were a devoted couple who celebrated over thirty-two years of marriage.

Our family is thankful for the many years we shared Eddie Lee’s life. As we say good-bye, we are comforted in knowing he now rests in the Arms of Our Savior. Survivors who will forever treasure his memory are, his wife, Brenda P. Brown, New London; sons: Michael (Angela) Brown, Albemarle, Reginald (Renee) Brown, Lenoir and Leslie T. White, New London; daughters: Chicaraw R. Meaders, Shyesia Ann Jordan, Cynthia (Harold) Robinson, all of Albemarle, Robin White, New London, and Tamara Cunningham, Greensboro, North Carolina; fifteen grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; brothers: Leon (Mildred) Brown and Jeffery Rorie (Shelia Stanback), both of Albemarle; many other relatives and friends.
