In sweet peace, our beloved, Dorsena Bruton Little, was called to eternal rest, Saturday, August 20, 2022, at her residence in Mt. Gilead, North Carolina surrounded by loving family. We give thanks to Our Lord and Savior for allowing us to share her life for so many years. “Doris”, as she was affectionately known, was born November 25, 1938, in Montgomery County, North Carolina; and was the daughter of the late Walker Steele and Jessie Bruton. She had a radiant smile and warmth that embraced her family and the community. She remained strong and vibrant until the end. Dorsena is resting in Our Father’s Arms and is free from pain and the woes of the world. She has reunited with her family and other ancestors in her Heavenly Home.
Dorsena was educated in the Montgomery County public schools and was a retired employee of McRae Shoe Industries, Mt. Gilead, North Carolina.
She was a faithful member of Walls Chapel Baptist Church, Mt. Gilead where she was ‘Church Mother’. She also served on the Kitchen Staff and supported other church auxiliaries. Dorsena was loving, nurturing and the perfect babysitter as she loved children. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and was dearly loved by the community.
Her parents; husband, Lonnie M. Little; sons: Robert Little, Steve Little and Edward Little; daughter, Paula Little; grandson, Albert Higgins; siblings: Charles Steele, James Steele, Thelma Welch, LuVada Steele, and Lucille Steele; and long- time companion, Richard Talbert, preceded her in death.
