Domita LaShonda Lilly

Domita LaShonda Lilly was born January 21, 1973, in Stanly County, North Carolina and was the daughter of Brenette Lilly and the late Jerry Harrell. Brenette was married to Richard Ray who helped to rear Domita. Brave and courageous, our beloved fought gallantly, but in the end, Our Father in his infinite wisdom saw that she was getting tired and needed rest. On July 17, 2025, Domita gave up time for eternity and entered Our Father’s Kingdom. Over the past few years Domita faced many health challenges, but through it all, she remained positive, loving, and kind to family and friends.

She was educated in Stanly County Public Schools and graduated in the class of 1991 from Albemarle Senior High School, Albemarle, North Carolina. She furthered her education at Stanly Community College where she received cosmetology and certified nursing assistant certifications. Prior to declining health, she was employed in the home health industry.

A strong faith, Domita was a former member of Colston Street Church of God, Albemarle. She was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing softball. One of her favorites enjoyments was spending time and supporting her grandchildren in their sporting events and school activities. She also loved sharing the many family celebrations. Domita loved fashion. She was always meticulously dressed, hair styled, and nails manicured.

Awaiting Domita’s heavenly arrival were her daughter, Shaquana Lilly; grandchildren: Jacori, Jacaiya, and Jai; maternal grandparents, Juanita and Benjamin Lilly; paternal grandparents, Sadie and Luke Harrell.

Beautiful and everlasting memories will live in the hearts of her daughter, Shaquarius Lilly; sons: Shakeem and Shy’Metrius Lilly; grandchildren: A’Kria, Amir, Jeremiah, James, Daveon, Jay, Bentley, and Jamiya; mother, Brenette Lilly; father, Richard Ray; sisters: Regina Lilly, Tia Harrell, and Dana Harrell; brothers: Bracey (Curhonda) Benson, Corey McRae, and Bryan Polk; best friend, Devita Brown and Tangela Christian; special friend: Jermaine Lloyd; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
