Deacon James Williams, Jr. Obituary

"I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.”

                                                                                         II  Timothy 4:7

God’s Grace and Infinite Wisdom called from labor to reward, James Williams, to his Heavenly home, Tuesday, August 4, 2020, while a patient at Stanly Manor, Albemarle, North Carolina. He was born November 9, 1942 in Stanly County, North Carolina to the parentage of the late James Robert and Virginia Ramell Owens Williams. We give thanks to the Father, Our Almighty Savior for blessing us with a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend for so many years. His memory will remain in our hearts forever.

James was educated in the Stanly County public schools and attended Kingville High School, Albemarle, North Carolina. Never idle, James was employed as an electrician with Clayton Homes, Richfield, North Carolina; and a fire fighter and board of directors with the New London Fire Department, New London, North Carolina before retiring after a stellar career.

At an early age, James accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined Little Zion African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, New London, North Carolina. He was a current member of Parkers Grove Baptist Church, New London. James was a dedicated member of the Deacon Board, Superintendent of the Sunday School, Choir and  member of the United Gospel Singers and supportive friend to the pastor of the church.

Family centered and an enjoyment of family was most important to James. He enjoyed the many family celebrations. James was an avid fan of car racing and NASCAR. Other hobbies included: singing, traveling and automotive maintenance.

He was joined in holy matrimony to the former Gracie Dawkins Williams. They were a loving couple and great parents to their children.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Isaiah Williams.

James leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Gracie D. Williams; daughters: Daphynie (Everette) Hough and Cheryl (Anthony) Richardson; son, Brian Keith Williams; grandchildren: Tara Hough, Megan Williams, Brian Williams Jr., Anthony Richardson, Jr., Antonio Williams, Chelsey Williams and Adriana Richardson; great grandchildren: Jihiem Allen, Shakiah Stephens, Jarrell Stephens,
Kamden Williams, Aliana Williams, Paris Williams, Gage Williams, Daylan Williams, Justice Williams; brothers: Reverend Henry Kent Williams and Lester (Bernice) Williams; sisters: Lela (Ollie) Watkins and Virginia (John) Davis; a host  sisters, brother-in- laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and caregiver, Barbara Gibson.
