In sweet peace, our beloved, Daniel Leroy Christian, was called from labor to reward, Saturday, December 13, 2025. Affectionately penned the nickname, “Billy Boy”, by his babysitter, Daniel will be remembered for his quick-witted sense of humor, joke telling, and ability to bring laughter and a smile to their faces. He was born October 19, 1941, in Stanly County, North Carolina to the parentage of Daniel Haywood and Margie Davis Christian. Gone from our homes, but always in our hearts, Daniel’s memory will forever be treasured.
He received his formal education in the Stanly County Public Schools and graduated from Kingville High School, class of 1960. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. For thirty-four years he was employed with Alcoa Aluminum Badin Works, Badin, North Carolina. He was a member of Alcoa’s iconic Twenty-Five Year Club.
Daniel was a devoted member of Saints Delight Church for many years. There he was a Sunday School scholar and member of the Men’s Auxiliary Outreach. Always involved and community oriented, Daniel was engaging and found time to support: Kingville Alumni Association, Silver Fox Club, former manager of the Albemarle Sluggers Baseball Team, honorary member of the Carolina Thunder Motorcycle Club, and legendary cook of fish and chicken for the Elks Social Club. His hobbies included: fishing, playing cards, and cheering for his favorite NFL Houston Texans. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them.
Daniel has joined his parents; daughters: Serena McLendon and Erika Griffin; and siblings: Melvin Christian, Alice McFadden, and Shirley Clark in a place of perfect beauty and peace.
Daniel and the former Charlie Belle Pemberton joined in marriage on September 3, 1994.
We are comforted in knowing that Daniel is at rest in Our Father’s House. He will be missed tremendously by his devoted wife, Charlie Belle Christian; daughters: Tina Christian, Valerie Christian-Jones, Alberta Watkins, LaTia Pemberton, DarKisha (Harry) McLendon, Renee Bruton, and a granddaughter, Bahaja Pemberton, who was reared in the home as a daughter; twenty grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; sisters: Phyllis Christian and Tangela Christian; special nieces: LaSonya Autry and Tondra Clark; special nephew, DeNico Autry; Godson, Lamond Lewis; Godmother, Alice “Nana” Davis; sisters-in-law: Brenda (Michael) McKinney, Anita Pemberton, Melinda Harris, Patricia Dumas, Minister Judy Boggans, and Loretta Greene; special life-long friends: Sam Burnette, William O. Parker, and Joseph McLendon; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
“Though you are gone from us in the physical world, we will always carry with us great
memories of you. Your love, your words of encouragement, and your loving smile will never be
forgotten. May angels sing thee to thy rest.”
