And so, on Thursday, October 17, 2024, Our Heavenly Father in his infinite wisdom called our dear prince, Damien Quintrel Griffin Jr. to rest. “DJ”, as he was adoringly called was born April 16, 2012, in Stanly County, North Carolina; and was the son of Chicaiya U. Meaders and Damien Q. Griffin Sr. The heart is never ready, the time is never right, but through grace and mercy we are comforted in knowing that “DJ” is a budding flower in Our Father’s Garden and is soaring with the Angels on high.
“DJ” was a sixth grader who attended East Albemarle Middle School, Albemarle. A loving and respectful young man, “DJ” was a talented artist who loved to draw. During his quiet time, he enjoyed watching his favorite Anime characters especially, Naruto; and the Avenger character, Iron Man.
Welcoming “DJ” to his heavenly home with opened arms were paternal grandparents: Eddie Hugh Lilly and Brenda C. Parker; maternal great grandparents: Ed and Aileen Harris and Eddie Lee Brown; paternal grandmother, Lori Craig-Harris; aunt, Erica Griffin; and uncle, Shawn Crump.
“DJ”s memory will forever live in the hearts of his mother, Chicaiya Meaders; father, Damien Griffin Sr.; brother, Jordan Griffin; sisters: Iy’Kianna Griffin and Ky’ Lianna Griffin; paternal grandparents:Tawana (Frederick) McCormick and Kevin Parker; maternal grandparents: Chicaraw Meaders and Stanly Harris; maternal great grandmother, Remell Brown; paternal great grandparents: Ruby G. Lilly, Eddie (Zelma) Davis and William O. Parker; aunts: Noelle Meaders, Alysia Owens, Ariana Craig, Chiquita Griffin, Justice Parker, Tyesha Crump and Ashley Medley; uncles: Demarco Meaders, Rickey Meaders-House, Brandon Griffin and Quentin Griffin; godmother, Montrice Floyd; a host of other relatives and friends.
We find courage and hope in the knowledge that Our Father who art in heaven carries “DJ” in his arms. We will see him again.
