Clyde Everette Ridenhour, Jr. affectionately known to family and friends as “Everette” or “Big E” passed away peacefully on April 19, 2019 at the age of 67. Everette will be forever remembered by his four children, Audreius Ridenhour of Albemarle, NC, Aneshia Ridenhour of Atlanta, GA, Deneshia Ridenhour of Atlanta, GA, and Latonya Ridenhour-Jones (Tim) of Toledo, OH; his sister Sarah Allen (Xavier) of Badin, NC, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a god-daughter, Lydia Dews, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a very special nephew Machard Williams. Everette preceded in death by his mother and father Clyde and Sarah Ridenhour; brothers, William Ridenhour, Steve Ridenhour, and Eugene Ridenhour; and a sister, Kathy Sue Ridenhour Tyson.
A native of Badin, NC, Everette was a graduate of North Stanley High School class of 1969 where he was a star athlete in football. After high school, he continued with his passion for football by playing for the Stanley County Patriots, a semi-pro football team where he played defensive tackle. He also loved professional football where he was a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Not only football, but Everette was avid sport enthusiast. He also played softball for many recreational leagues. Not only did he played sports; but you could always catch him watching sports; and it didn’t matter the sport, he loved them all.
Everette made his home in Fayetteville, NC and was a member of Hood Memorial AME Zion Church. He was an active member and mentor of the local stroke club where he encouraged other stroke survivors. Everette was featured in an article in the Fayetteville Observer that highlighted his commitment and dedication in living an active life as a stroke survivor. He routinely helped guide new stroke survivors to much needed resources and encouragement to better equip them for the daily challenges they would encounter.
Everette enjoyed cooking and entertaining. He was a passionate chef and was the chief baker for his stroke club meetings. He loved bringing new low-fat desserts to each monthly social gathering.
We are grateful to have had him in our lives; and he will be missed dearly. “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirt. “- Romans 15:13 NLT
