Claude G. Mims, age 76, transitioned to eternal rest Saturday, October 9, 2021, while a patient at Levine Dickson Hospice House, Charlotte, North Carolina. He was born March 12, 1945, in McCormick, South Carolina; and was the son of the late Sylvester Sr. and Carrie Morris Mims. Gone but will never be forgotten, Claude was fun loving and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Those special memories of him will always bring a smile to our faces. He will remain in our hearts and will be dearly missed.
He was educated in the McCormick County public schools. After moving to North Carolina in 1968, he was employed as a concrete finisher with Mims Concrete and Finishing Company, Albemarle, North Carolina.
Claude was reared in a Christian home, and he joined Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Badin, North Carolina after moving to Stanly County. He was faithful and enjoyed many spirited services at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Albemarle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers: Ollie, Robert, Ike, Roosevelt, and Sylvester Jr.
Saddened by his death, but comforted with loving and cherished memories are his sisters: Mamie Scott, Jeanette Pressley, both of Baltimore, Maryland and Janelle Lark, Greenwood, South Carolina; brothers: David Mims, Baltimore and Marion “Map” Mims, McCormick, South Carolina; special niece, Reverend Arnette (Deacon Eddie) Wall, Albemarle, North Carolina; special nephew and caregiver, Ricardo “Ron” (Leonera) Quarles, Albemarle; sisters-in-law: Bessie M. Mims, Augusta, Georgia, and Mary Q. Mims, Albemarle; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
