Claude Kirk Obituary

Forever in our hearts, good and faithful servant, Claude Edward Kirk, age 85, was called to Eternal rest, Wednesday, November 25, 2020. Claude was born December 26, 1934 in Badin, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Mary Kirk Little, Roy Little and Jerome Nabinett (biological father). Claude personified kindness, generosity, warmth, and friendship. He was caring and compassionate not only to his family and friends, but to the Greater Stanly County Community. We are comforted in knowing that he is now resting in the Arms of Our Lord and Savior.

Claude was educated in the Badin public schools and graduated from the historic West Badin High School, Badin, North Carolina where he was a standout basketball player.  For over thirty years he was an exemplary employee with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Albemarle, North Carolina and retired as supervisor for the department.

A Christian and servant of God, Claude and his family have been life-long members of Shiloh Baptist Church, New London, North Carolina. At Shiloh, he was a member of the Deacon and Trustee Boards and Pastor’s Aide Auxiliary. He was a member of the Spiritual, Senior and Men’s Choirs. Claude was also a former member of the Optimist Club, a community organization that conducts service projects aimed at providing a helping hand to the youth.

In his leisure, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Claude’s favorite hobby was fishing, fishing, and more fishing. When the weather permitted, he and his fishing crew could always be found on the banks, enjoying the weather, and talking about the ‘catch of the day’.

Claude has been called from labor to reward and has joined his parents; his wife, Shirley Lilly Kirk; sister, Josephine Jeffries; and former wife, Rosanna Waddell Kirk in a beautiful paradise where every day is like Sunday.

As we gather to say good-bye to Claude, we remember how blessed we have been to have shared a wonderful life. With fondness, love, and affection, he will remain in our hearts forever. Left to cherish his memory are, his son, Keith E. Kirk, Binghamton, New York; daughters: Patrina “Tsehynesh” (Mawando) Chatman, Detroit, Michigan, Sheila (John) Kirk-Baptista, Mount Vernon, New York, Anita Claudette (Franco) Kirk-Goode, Adrienne (Douglas) Kirk-Richardson, Stephanie Kirk-Lofton, all of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Lakisha (Larry) Lilly-Davis, New London, North Carolina; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; sister, Marion Thompson, Union, New Jersey; aunt, Maggilean Campbell, Troy, North Carolina; sisters-in-law: Rebecca Caraway and Mary Lilly Walker; brothers-in-law: Olden Lilly Jr. and Lemmie Lilly; a host of other relatives and friends including his fishing crew: Lewis Watkins, Daniel Christian, Philmore Lilly, Tom Davis; and the West Badin class of 1953.
