On January 30, 2023, Cecil became absent from the body, to be present with the Lord.
Cecil Lavon Brown, age 42, of Oakboro, North Carolina, was born May 7, 1980, to Allen “Bill” Brown and Minnie K. Broadway. He attended West Stanly High School, Red Cross, North Carolina, where he was a standout football and basketball athlete. He received many titles that included the prestigious 1998 Rocky River Conference Defensive Player of the Year Award. Cecil was employed with Ally Home Care, Albemarle, North Carolina, where he was loved by the individuals he served.
He was the epitome of love. An individual who was compassionate, known for his contagious smile, sense of humor, and unique laugh. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the family dinners, trips to the beach , and fishing. He also was an excellent barber. Most of all he loved spending quality time with his three children.
His younger sister, Corinnie Broadway; maternal grandparents, Mary and George Covington; paternal grandfather, Frank Gaines; uncles: John Covington, Lynn Covington, Jeremiah Owens, and Waddell Covington; and aunt, Beverly Harris preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memory are his three children, who were the love of his life: Nivea, Cecil Jr., and Jayla Brown; father Allen “Bill” (Pamela ) Brown; mother, Minnie K. Broadway; paternal grandmother, Margie Brown; brothers: Cory (Nika) Broadway, Junior Brown, and Marcus (Lashica) Jenkins; sister, Takela (Tim) Christian; uncles: Jerry Covington, Michael (Tonya) Covington, James Gaines, Douglas Gaines, Steve Gaines, Sylvester (Nancy) Brown, and Stewart Gaines; aunts: Gail Owens, Rhonda Covington, Eunice Covington, Vanessa Covington, Melanie Richardson, Betty Harris, Barbara Gaines, and Shanta Gaines; special aunt, Wanda Turner; a host of great uncles, great aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
