Carron Julia White, known for her beautiful bright smile, loving and jovial demeanor, was born March 11, 1982, in Chicago, Illinois to Richard and Sallie Chaney White. Richard and Sallie anticipated taking home one newborn, but Carron made her surprising entrance eight minutes later to join her twin sister, Carrie. Carron’s heartbeat, aligned with her mother’s and close to her twin sister, was undetected by the doctors, yet always present waiting to join her sisters.
Carron accepted Christ and was baptized in February of 1992 at Christ First Baptist Church of Harvey, Illinois under the leadership of Rev. Napoleon & Estelle Davis. She cultivated her faith in discipleship through the AWANA program, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School. Known as the comedian of the family, Carron was always lively and light-hearted. Her childhood was full of family BBQ’s, playing double-dutch with friends, and volunteering with the Horizon’s Muscular Dystrophy Summer Camp in support of her late aunt Ernestine Swearnigen.
Carron graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School, Flossmoor, Illinois in 2000 and matriculated to Fisk University, Nashville, Tennessee where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in May of 2004. During her time at Fisk University, Carron became a member of the Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated in the fall of 2002. Her career experience was focused on financial audit and compliance within healthcare and financial companies. Carron united in marriage with George Gaines, April 30, 2011. Their love journey amicably dissolved in 2014.
On Friday, June 9, 2023, our Father in His infinite wisdom called Carron to eternal rest. Carron will be remembered by her creativity in decorating, hosting social events with 92Q Nashville’s R&B and Throwbacks Radio Station, cooking, shopping, and spending time with friends and family, especially her twin sister, who she lovingly called “Twinkie”. We would be remiss if we did not mention that she loved to sing. She sang in the church choir, high school gospel choir, and the Fisk University Gospel Choir.
Carron’s life was filled with faith, love, and friendship. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sallie Chaney-White; maternal grandparents, Frank and Carrie Chaney; paternal grandmother, Julia White; maternal aunt, Ernestine Swearnigen; cousin, Tranell Swearnigen; maternal uncle, Melvin Chaney; paternal uncles, Lewis White and Earl White; and paternal aunt, Barbara Walker.
Her life will forever be cherished and remembered by her sisters, affectionately known as “The White Girls”: Renita White, Tiffany Gates and her twin sister, Carrie White; nephews, Carter Gates, Aidin Gates, Prince Qualls and Rey Qualls; maternal aunt Gaynell, maternal uncle Lee Chaney, paternal aunt Beverly Trice; a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
“The music is quiet; the sun has set. Carron’s smile is a memory we will never forget”.
