Carlos Owens Obituary

Carlos Bernard Owens, age 49, fought a good fight, finished his course, kept the faith, and entered Heaven’s Gate, Monday, September 21, 2020. Born September 8, 1971 in Stanly County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late T.C. Marshall and Annie Mae Williams Owens. He never said he was leaving, we did not get a chance to say good-bye, but we know in our hearts and he knew that we loved him more than words can ever say. Carlos is soaring with the Angels and resting in Our Savior’s Arms. We smile through teary eyes knowing that he has made it home.

He was educated in the Stanly County public schools and graduated in the Class of 1990 from North Stanly High School, New London, North Carolina. Carlos was a former employee of Alcoa Badin Works, Badin, North Carolina.

As believer, Carlos and his family were life-long members of First Baptist Church, Badin, North Carolina. He was a faithful member until health challenges prevented his attendance. Carlos enjoyed socializing with family and friends. His favorite enjoyment was the many family celebrations.  He always enjoyed fishing on Badin Lake.

Carlos was preceded in death by his parents T.C. Marshall and Annie W. Owens; brother, Teddy Owens; maternal grandparents: Anson “Jabo” Jr., and Rachel Freeman Williams; paternal grandfather, Fletcher (Katherine) Barger; paternal grandmother, Julia Mae Nichelson; and step-grandfather, Sherman Nichelson.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories are:  his sons: Demario B. Owens, Ja’Angelo Sr. and grandsons: Sekani B. Owens and Ja’Angelo Owens Jr., all of Mt. Gilead, North Carolina; sisters: Tessia Z. Kendall, Salisbury, North Carolina, Rachel Renee Williams, Badin, Veda K. (Willis) Jackson, High Point, North Carolina and Lolita Wiley, Charlotte, North Carolina; brother, Frazier Goode, Jacksonville Florida, Florida; special nephews: Terrell (Natasha) Williams, Harrisburg, North Carolina and Travis Williams, Salisbury; special great nephew, Sean Parker; aunts: Teresa (Sam) Miller, Albemarle, North Carolina and Ellen Travick, Candor, North Carolina; uncle, Leon (Phyllis) Barger, New London, North Carolina; special niece, Miracle Stokes, High Point, North Carolina; nieces, nephews, other relatives, special friend, Patty Rorie and countless friends of Moreland Courts, High Point, who were an extended family to Carlos.

“Rest well and rest in peace dear Carlos, we will miss you.”

The family will be receiving friends at 160 Basset Circle, Salisbury, NC 28144.
