Anthony Desilvia Tyson entered eternal rest, Tuesday, May 20, 2025, while a patient at Atrium Health, Charlotte, North Carolina. Tony, as he was fondly known, was born August 28,1950, in Stanly County, North Carolina; and was the son of the late Nancy Tyson McLean and William Frank Kirk. Day has dawn, and gone is the sun, but happy memories of Tony will forever live in our hearts. May he rest in Our Father’s Arms.
Tony attended the Stanly County Public Schools and graduated from North Stanly High School, Class of 1969, New London, North Carolina. After graduating high school, he joined and served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Pfieffer University, Misenheimer, North Carolina.
A man of faith, Tony was a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church, New London where he enjoyed many spirited services and the fellowship of members. He was a pride member of the Pride of Badin Masonic Lodge (PHA No. 457). In his leisure time, Tony enjoyed reading, watching history documentaries, and playing golf.
We are comforted to know that Tony is resting in Our Father’s House; and has joined his parents; sister, Debra McLean; and brother, Kenneth Tyson, where every day it will be like Sunday.
Tony will be remembered for his generous and kind demeanor, love of family and friends by his sons: Anthony D. (Kylie) Tyson II and Mario Morris; daughter, Maria Morris; grandchildren: Zoe, Theron, and Kaia; sisters: Alice P. Tyson, Eva (David) Davis, and Gloria (Bob) Monk; brothers: Ray L.(Debra) Tyson, Bruce C. Wylie, Waddell E. Wylie, and Humphrey Kendall; fiancé, Willie Mae Vaughn; special friends: James “Bill” Brown and Douglas Spencer; a host of other relatives and friends.
