Anthony Wayne McCall, age 61, died Sunday, September 19, 2021.Fondly known as, Wayne, he was born November 14, 1959, in Stanly County, North Carolina. He was the son of Sarah McCall and the late James A. Owens. When tomorrow begins, and Wayne is no longer in our presence, we will remember him with fondness, love, and thanksgiving for his life. We will remember his beautiful smile and the many memories we shared through the years.
He was educated in the Stanly County public schools and graduated in the class of 1978 from North Stanly High School, New London, North Carolina. Wayne attended Livingstone College, Salisbury, North Carolina where he pursued a Business Degree. He was employed and retired from the Phillip Morris Corporation, Concord, North Carolina after many years of dedicated service. Wayne also served in the United States Reserve.
Always a believer, Wayne enjoyed the fellowship and spirited church services at churches in the Badin and New London communities. Never idle, he was involved and enjoyed membership in the Pride of Badin Masonic Lodge PHA #557, Badin, North Carolina. A great conversationalist, Wayne enjoyed meeting and talking with people. He especially enjoyed his family and visited his sister daily, who always cooked him a scrumptious meal. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and proud fan of the Duke University Blue Devils basketball team. Wayne loved fashion and was always immaculately dressed.
Wayne’s father, James Owens; sister, Dominique McCall; brothers: Derek Owens, Deion Owens, and Billy Inabinett preceded him in death.
Saddened by Wayne’s death, but comforted by cherished memories are his mother, Sarah McCall; sons: Enricko McLendon and Anthony Wayne McCall Griffin; grandchildren: Demarian McCorkle and Ahmyiah McCorkle; maternal grandmother, Utta McCall; brothers: Minister Burmine (Erica) McCall, Donald Crump, and Juan (Robin) Parker; sisters: Jencie (Doug) Swaringen, Sarah Boulware, Glenda (Jeffery) Hill, Mary (Sylvester) Jones, and Margie Williams Dancy; special aunts and uncles: Connie Allen, Nancy (Willie) Merriman, and Minister Tommie(Elder Bart) Gramling; special nieces: Sera McCall and Renee’(Michael Todd) Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
